quick opening closures

Since several years, DB Progetti designs and manufactures quick opening closures of various types, strictly in accordance with international regulations, for equipment that requires opening and closing operations in reduced times, such as:

  • Pig traps
  • Filters
  • Scrubbers
  • Manhole openings

The available pressure range goes from ASME 150# to 2500# and API 10000. The QOCs can be supplied made in carbon steel and stainless steel.

All models are available in both horizontal version (with hinge support), and vertical version (with davit support).

All the quick opening closures are also equipped with a safety system that prevents opening if residual pressure is still present inside the equipment.

The security systems are the following:

Standard lock with DB Progetti safety valve

According to ASME VIII div.1 UG-35 and ASME VIII Division 2 Para. 4.8, it consists of a threaded machined plug connected to a locking system that does not allow the opening of the quick opening closure without the cap itself being unscrewed. In this way, any residual pressure can leak from the machined thread.

Key interlock security system
On customer request

DB Progetti may include, according to customer specifications, the connection of a Key Interlock System which, through sequences specifically designed by the manufacturer, locks the opening of the quick opening closure before the unit, and the piping, have been completely depressurized.

Made by a pivot directly connected to the device which, in case of pressure, remains in the extended position preventing the opening of the closure.

Speedlock

The DB Speedlock consists in a body and a cover with a system of interlocking teeth made of forged material, which prevent the opening of the QOC.

The design and 3D simulation of the hinge, allows the quick unlocking and opening of the closure, through a simple rotation that allows you to “free” the teeth. This rotation is generally manually operated by means of a gear wheel and a pinion, or by means of reducer with handwheel in case of very heavy closures.

The seal is ensured by a special custom made lip seal, in order to adapt to different fluids and design temperatures.

Operator safety is guaranteed by the standard security lock, as described on this page.

Ringlock

The Main Features of the DB Ringlock quick opening closure are the extreme simplicity, and opening and closing speed.

These operations are possible thanks to a resilient metal ring which is interposed between the hub and the closed cover.

The opening and closing of the ring are performed through a simple hand lever, with minimum effort by the operator.

The design and 3D simulation of the hinge, allows the quick unlocking and opening of the closure.

The seal is ensured by a special custom made lip seal, in order to adapt to different fluids and design temperatures.

Operator safety is guaranteed by the safety valve with false ring which, in the same way as the false tooth, makes possible to lock the ring once the cover is closed.

Clamplock

The opening / closing system of the model DB Clamplock consists in a couple of clamps (or ties) machined to allow the perfect connection of the cover to the body, in order to share the pressure load over the entire circumference of the closure.

The QOC is equipped with gear wheel and handwheel, and can also be installed at a distance in the case in which the closure is installed on devices not accessible by the operator without the use of stairs or walkways.

The seal is ensured by a special custom made lip seal, in order to adapt to different fluids and design temperatures.

Operator safety is guaranteed by the standard safety valve which makes possible to lock the clamps once the cover is closed.

Threadlock

The DB Threadlock quick opening closure consists of a threaded cover (according to international regulations) which is screwed on the hub.

The seal is guaranteed by the use of O-ring gasket.

Operator safety is guaranteed by the standard safety valve which makes impossible to open the QOC if the equipment is still pressurized.

Pig signaler

Pig Signalers provide confirmation of the movement of pipeline pigs through a pipeline.

They are normally positioned at both the pig launching and pig receiving stations and at the key points along the pipeline.

The design of our Pig Signaler makes it able to operate at 360°, from any angle and direction, that’s why we call it “Pig Signaler Omnidirectional”.

DB Progetti is able to supply the Pig Signaler in 3 layouts, depending on client requirements.

If you need to extract it while the pipeline is still under pressure, we provide the Pig Signaler along with interception valves (DBB Valve) or with spool pipe if the pipeline is already equipped with valves.

For this purpose, DB Progetti can supply a manual Jacking Device.

Otherwise we can also supply the Pig Signaler ready to be assembled directly on the pipeline.

The product is completely customizable on client requirements:

  • Shaft length
  • Construction material (Carbon steel, stainless steel, special alloys, etc.)
  • Connection flange type
  • Special accessories (such as explosion-proof proximity switch)
  • Painting or corrosion-proof coating

oil duplex filters

The duplex filters have been designed with the goal of a compact design without welds, and with a reduced weight and dimensions.

The filters are built in one piece, in which are installed all main components:

  • Switch valve (Which allows to have always one operating filter, in order to perform maintenance activities and change the cartridges without stopping the system),
  • Balancing and drain valves,
  • Cartridges housings.

The duplex filters are designed according to ASME VIII div.1 code last edition, and according to the most important international rules (PED, GOST, NR13, GB150; DPP) to satisfy the requirements of iron and steel, chemicals, petrochemicals and water treatment plants.

They are available in different versions: 

  • DB Progetti standard, completely made of stainless steel 316L
  • Made in carbon steel
  • Made in special materials on request

Oil mist extractors

DB Progetti has developed a new compact, high-efficiency products for the separation and removal of oil mist.

Using special cartridges, the DB Progetti OME guarantees high performance in separation / removal of oil mist from the air, ensuring values of emissions in accordance with the strictest international regulations on health and safety in work places.

cyclones bundle

The cyclones bundle is the best solution to remove solid particles from a gas stream, allowing a high separation efficiency associated with a constant pressure loss, without need for maintenance.

Principle of operation

The bundle is made of many individual elements appropriately oriented and welded on a single plate.

The impure gas is introduced tangentially through the nut, generationg a high centrifugal force and causing the impact both solid and liquid particles against the wall of the nut itself.

The clean gas changes direction, and flows upward in the concentric tube while the impurities, being heavier, falls through the hole of the nut and accumulate in the lower part of the separator.

Il separatore a pacco lamellare è la soluzione ideale per rimuovere le particelle liquide da un stream gassoso, permettendo una elevata efficienza di separazione associata ad una minima perdita di carico costante, senza bisogno di manutenzione.

Sono utilizzati nella separazione del gas in ingresso agli impianti per il trattamento di fuel gas, e a monte delle turbine a gas o turbocompressori, come protezione ad essi.

The vane pack is the best solution for removing liquid particles from a gas stream, allowing a high separation efficiency combined with a minimum pressure loss, without the need for maintenance.

They are used in the separation of gas inlet for the treatment plant of fuel gas, and upstream of a gas turbine or turbocharger, as a protection to them.

filter elements

The filter cartridges are selected keeping in mind various parameters, as the required efficiency, the pressure loss allowed and the type of impurities to be separated from the gas.

The cartridges can separate from the gas both liquid and solid impurities.

The cartridges for the separation of liquid particles are the coalescents one, because they agglomerate the particles in the form of mist bigger drops, making them fall to the bottom of the filter.

DB Progetti cooperates with leader companies on joint projects, such as the design and implementation of coalescing elements plates for gas filtration skid of Nuovo Pignone Bari.

Over the years this collaboration has increased, with more and more complex projects and applications.
